Founder and President Charles (Chuck) Birdie has over 35 years of experience as a fundraiser and non-profit executive. Chuck is a graduate of Fordham University. He has been a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) since 1991 and earned his Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) certification in 1996.
One of his most notable consulting clients was Rotary International where he helped raise $15 million from Rotary’s Northern Europe region. Other clients include research institutes, hospitals, museums, and religious organizations in the US and Canada.
Chuck also managed development departments and foundations for several national medical associations and educational institutes in Washington, DC. As a member of both internal (staff) and external (consultant) teams, he gained an appreciation and unique perspective of the challenges facing the nonprofit sector.
In 2009, he started Lead2Succeed to help nonprofits do what they do…better.
In 2018, Chuck was awarded Non-Profit Leader of the Year by the Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce and as Interim Executive Director for a free clinic in 2019, saw the clinic win Non-Profit of the Year from the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce.
Chuck managed the Greater Niagara General Hospital campaign that won the Canadian-wide Showcase Development Award from the Association of HealthCare Philanthropy for Capital Campaigns for campaign planning and execution.
As Development Director for a national medical association, Chuck supervised efforts and solicited support that increased total corporate donations from $750,000 to $2,500,000 per year in less than three years. He also established a direct mail appeal to members that raised more than $130,000 per year.
As Executive Director for a national blood foundation, Chuck managed the production of and raised $100,000 in corporate support for a major conference.
As Executive Director of another national medical association, Chuck initiated new management procedures that reduced foundation administrative costs by 18%
